Today’s been a good day. Nothing unusual, a another day in the office, gym straight after. What happened after the gym was a real step in the right direction. I wasted little time when I got back, had my shower, did some of my driving theory practice (admittedly not much, just 20-30 practice questions), ate dinner at 8pm. I found it quite effortless to come off the laptop after dinner (I usually get hooked onto it or start scrolling on my phone until bedtime) – I believe turning it off straight after dinner was the key. I then read a book for around 45 mins.
I then focussed on some ‘web development’ for Reciply.com (if you’re reading this, I failed many times, successfully).
I am currently using AI to do this, but I am beginning to realise some of its limitations. I am currently trying to get it to allow my posts to be visible across multiple devices, however to do this I need to move from local data storage to a cloud-based, ‘Supabase’ database. The AI’s attempts of implementing this functionality are terrible – it fails to post anything now! I will attempt to learn WordPress myself and see if I can make the website without AI as I’ll only run into more roadblocks trying to shortcut the web dev process. Worst case I cannot figure it out and I ask my close friend Maz help me out with this – he’s pretty good with WordPress, check out Axone.co.uk to see what I’m talking about.
Now back to the book I was reading. I’m currently reading this book called ‘The Art of Non Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want and Change the World’. I was tasked with detailing my ‘ideal day’. This is to help one work out ‘what you really want to get out of life’. I’ve never thought about this on such a micro level, so it’s about time:
My ideal day-to-day:
- Wake up well rested at home in a scenic location with a beautiful view of the sunrise in warm, summer weather. The day begins at 7am with plenty of time to get rid of the grogginess – start with a guided meditation with ambiance (candles, scents) to help with this.
- Go for a coffee with a business partner, coach or my SO to discuss current matters/future plans related to my business/mission/life.
- Head to the business around 9am, starting at 10am. Draft a to-do list if not done already for the day.
- Sort out the most important issues and delegate smaller issues to management. Finish by 1pm.
- Meet with colleagues, chat, be someone they can talk to about issues facing them at work or even personally. I plan to be a leader that understands the people that I employ. Or otherwise meet people outside the business in adjacent industries, if not, do some reading on anything – it could end up benefitting business or personal life. Finish by 3pm
- Meet my SO for a planned activity that we enjoy together, something physical – it could be a dance class, gym workout together, a paddleboard session with a friend and his SO, or a walk in the nature reserve. (From 4-6pm)
- Go back home, spend time with the kids before bed. Ask them about their day, what they’ve learnt, make sure you know them like the back of your hand. Teach them something if possible – no need to worry about chores, the nanny’s got them covered!
- Kids are old enough to have their own rooms, wife and I go to bed together (hopefully with no kids waking us up!).
I’ve just read the above back to myself and some of you may be thinking what I’m thinking; a life like that is going to be EXPENSIVE. I’m gonna have to be a very high earner (£100,000/yr) to even stand a chance of making this dream come true. I haven’t even mentioned holidays or experiences yet! I’m dangerously ambitious to say the least but it’s a dream worth pursuing.
Some food for thought:
What are your ambitions?
What does your ideal day look like?
How do you plan on getting there?
If you have high aspirations, pursue them! And if you’re not quite sure on where to start, feel free to reach out to me or keep reading.
I haven’t got it all figured out, but I’ll do my best to guide you.
Signing out,
Jin
